  14.  This file provides a quick introduction to Four Seasons,a wee bit of
  15.  legal mumbo-jumbo, and installation instructions.  It is not intended
  16.  to be an exhaustive reference to the game.  For instructions on how to
  17.  play the game, refer to the help file (FS.HLP).

  20.  Introduction

  22.   This game is my first foray into Windows programming, and there's but
  23.   one way to describe it: feature-rich!  All the conveniences you've come
  24.   to expect (statistics, undo, auto moves, move alert), plus a few new
  25.   ones (practice games, traditional and challenge scoring, top ten
  26.   scorekeeping) help to make this game a winner.  The game itself is a
  27.   challenge and a half, and will keep you coming back for more.

  29.   Four Seasons requires Windows 3.x and VBRUN200.DLL.

  32.  How To Install Four Seasons
  33.  ---------------------------
  34.   There are no special or complicated procedures for installing the game.
  35.   The program files can be located in any convenient sub-directory on your
  36.   hard disk. The VBX and DLL files may be moved to your Windows SYSTEM
  37.   directory if you wish, though it is not required.
  38.  
  39.   To run the program, simply install it into the Program Manager (I'm not
  40.   going to explain how to do that here ... it's well-documented in the
  41.   Windows manuals and online help).  Alternately, the program may be run
  42.   from the File Manager by double-clicking on the FS.EXE file.

  45.  Legalese
  46.  --------
  47.   Four Seasons is shareware.  As such, you can play it, copy it, and
  48.   give it away as you wish.  In fact, you are encouraged to distribute
  49.   the program to friends, family, and strangers alike.  This includes
  50.   distribution via electronic bulletin board systems (BBS), user's
  51.   groups, and disk-distribution services.  All that I ask is that the
  52.   package remains unaltered and complete, consisting of the files 
  53.   listed in VENDINFO.DIZ.

  55.   The following files are required to run Four Seasons:

  65.      The following file is required for operation of this program, but
  66.      may not be included with the other files in order to keep down the
  67.      size of the distribution archive.  If it is not included, you can
  68.      get it from the same place you obtained this program, or from your
  69.      local BBS or disk distributor.

  75.   Standard Limited Warranty: This software is sold "as is", without any
  76.    warranty as to performance or any other warranties whether expressed
  77.    or implied.  Because of the vast number of possible hardware and
  78.    software environments in which this software may be used, no warranty
  79.    of fitness for a particular purpose is offered.  The user assumes the
  80.    entire risk of using this program.  Any liability of the author will
  81.    be limited to product replacement or the refund of the registration
  82.    fee.

  85.  Registration
  86.  ------------
  87.   Four Seasons is shareware.  You may freely evaluate it for a reasonable
  88.   period (30 days).  If you continue to use it beyond the evaluation
  89.   period, you need to register it.

  91.   Registration is only $10 and gets you the following benefits:
  92.  
  93.     1. The latest version of Four Seasons on the diskette of your
  94.        choice (5.25" or 3.50").
  95.  
  96.     2. A registration code good for all future updates of Four Seasons.
  97.        This code will allow you to convert current and future shareware
  98.        versions to registered versions, getting rid of the opening
  99.        "reminder" screen in the process.
  100.  
  101.     3. More sounds!  Add some variety to the "win" and "lose" sounds
  102.        with this pack of extra sound effects.
  103.  
  104.     4. Bonus programs on the remainder of the disk.  These include other
  105.        shareware offerings by Randy Rasa.

  107.   Let me re-emphasize that the registration code is good for all future
  108.   updates of this program.  With Four Seasons, you're not stuck in an
  109.   endless cycle of expensive upgrades -- you register once, and that's
  110.   it.  What this essentially means is:  Free Updates!

  112.   There are three ways to print a registration form:
  113.  
  114.      1. Select the "Print Registration Form" button from the registration
  115.         reminder screen.
  116.  
  117.      2. Open the FS.FRM file (included with this program) with Window's
  118.         Notepad, and print it from there.

  120.      3. From the DOS command line type "COPY FS.FRM PRN".
  121.  
  122.   Once the registration form is printed, simply fill it out (be sure to
  123.   select a disk size!) and send it to the address listed on the form,
  124.   along with a check, money order, or cash.  Expect your disk in about
  125.   two weeks.  I generally ship out all orders within two weeks of 
  126.   receipt of order.

  137.  Un-Installing Four Seasons
  138.  --------------------------
  139.   If (heaven forbid!) you decide not to keep Four Seasons, you can
  140.   un-install it by simply removing the program's files from your disk
  141.   and removing the Four Seasons icon from Program Manager.  The program
  142.   creates a file called FS.INI in your Windows dircetory, and this may
  143.   be deleted as well.
